Military Family Appreciation Ski Week

The largest and most affordable ski event for military families in the nation.

For over ten years, NFO has partnered with Taos Ski Valley (TSV) to host the annual Military Family Appreciation Ski Week. NFO and TSV invite past and present Military Members, their immediate families, and Gold Star Families to enjoy a week of discounted snow sports and family fun.

Q: Who can get discounted lift tickets, rentals, and lessons?

A: Veterans, active duty military, and their families are eligible to receive discounts as long as you show proof of veteran/ military status.

Q: How do I purchase a discounted lift ticket, rental, or lesson?

A: You can buy those things directly from Taos Ski Valley. There is a way to buy them online through TSV’s website and you have to create an account with a service called “ID me” in order to verify your veteran/ military status. Otherwise, you can simply go to the ticket counter at the ski valley and show your ID there.

Q: What sort of ID can I show to prove my veteran/ military status?

A: Any military ID or driver’s license with veteran designation on it will do.

Q: What is the price of discounted lift tickets?

A: LIft ticket prices are set by Taos Ski Valley and will be made available on the NFO website when they are released to us

Q: Will there be a free dinner at Ski Week?

A: Yes! The dinner is a staple of Ski Week and is usually scheduled for Friday at 5 PM in Tenderfoot Katie’s. Please make sure to RSVP once you get to the ski valley.

Q: When is the next Military Family Appreciation Ski Week?

A: Ski Week is usually scheduled the Tuesday-Sunday after Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Verified dates will be released upon confirmation with Taos Ski Valley.

Q: What is the event schedule?

A: An up-to-date schedule of activities will be provided during Ski Week. The following activities are usually scheduled at the same time each year:

  • Ski Week is the Tuesday-Sunday after Martin Luther King Jr. Day;
  • NFO tables outside and in the Looking Glass from Tuesday through Friday;
  • There is a group photo on Friday at 12 PM at the base/ ski lift 1;
  • The free dinner is Friday at 5 PM in Tenderfoot Katie’s (please RSVP)

Q: Can I get free lift tickets?

A: NFO used to have funding specifically for purchasing lift tickets for those who otherwise cannot get one. NFO no longer has this funding but we are able to provide some free tickets on a case-by-case basis. In addition, there may be separate funding provided by Together With Veterans Taos County to purchase free tickets to veterans who are residents of Taos County.
